I try to eliminate the stress in my life, but my wife has significant health problems which are not going to go away. She has probable Multiple Sclerosis, possible strokes, had a hole in her heart that needed to be surgically repaired, and has all sorts of MS related issues. This stress is not going to go away.
She recently started going to my neurologist. This is Neurologist number 8 for her. They are starting the whole battery of tests again tomorrow. This after being diagnosed with MS in 2001 only to have the diagnosis taken back in 2007. (Neurologist #7 did this.) Says he can't decide if its MS or a Stroke. She had a Neurologist (Neuro #1) tell her she had MS, but he took it back also. Neuro's 2-6 told her things like "I don't know" (honest at least) to Essential Tremor (no, she does not have ET)to our favorite - "It's all in your head". Neuro #6 refused to test her because "it will only feed your neurosis." Neuro #7 took MRI's and found leasions (sp?), diagnosed MS but now says she had a stroke.
I was wondering how y'all think I should deal with this? Sandy is starting the next round of tests tomorrow and has a Brain MRI and Spinal Cord MRI scheduled for Thursday. I am worried.

THIS IS CAUSING YOU A GREAT DEAL OF STRESS, WHEN I WAS CARETAKER FOR MY DAD AND THEN AGAIN FOR TWO LOVED ONES IN THE HOSPITAL AT THE SAME TIME(60 MILES APART)I DID NOT DO WELL. I BELIEVE THIS BROUGHT ON MY HEAD TREMOR. I WAS THANKFUL FOR A KIND MD WHO GOT ME THRU WITH XANAX, SO I COULD GET REST TO CARRY ON THE NEXT DAY. GOOD LUCK, HELEN/FL

Sometimes there isn't anything you can do about things that cause stress. Then you just have to live today and do your best. It isn't always easy but we can't stop stress so we must take life in little chunks to try and keep it manageable.

cj01 - I am 46. As far as what I would change. If I had a majic wand my wife would not have MS (or whatever it is). I am sure my tremors would be much less. So... question is, what would I change that I have the power to change. I don't know.

Thanks for your responses. On top of the MS stuff, our foster daughter's birth mother had a stroke on Monday. She was life flighted to University Hospital. Ashley (our foster daughter) is very distressed by this. Her mother cannot stand or walk. Her left side is quite paralyzed. She can talk and seemed mostly aware yesterday, but Ashley got upset because her mother called her by her sister's name. Sandy and I tried to explain to her that a one time mix up doesn't mean anything. (Heck, I've called her Allie, which is our dog.) Her mother called Ashley by her name several times during our visit.
So we have that going on plus my wife's tests which are starting today. I think I'll see how the next few days go and if needed I'll go see my family doc for some relief.
