Has anyone been diagnosed with Tardive Dyskinesia as a result of taking Reglan? My 60-year-old roommate has had TD since 2000 after taking Reglan for 2 years. Her movement has continued & sometimes is very bad. For the movement, she is currently taking Amantadine, Bacoflen, Xanax, & Darvocet for pain. Can anyone provide me with any assistance? Has anyone taken Tetrabenazine for TD?

Hi! I feel that Reglan, short term use added to my problems, as well as xanax and amantadine which I have had negative reactions to. The drug you mentioned is used through special permission in this country, if I'm thinking about it correctly. What I've read it's effective with some types of dystonia--but I don't know anyone who has taken it.Good luck. Eric

Please read my thread above and particularly me response to "no subject" on July 13th. Reglan was the first medication that I had a problem of Tardive Dyskinesia with and I really feel that it was the beginning of all of my movement problems. After taking one of the meds I mentioned, the TD only lasts that day, but the other disorders started popping up without any meds at all. Hope it helps

Please visit Please visit Reglan Claim Center to learn more about reglan and the associated side effects.

In addition to providing general information about the drug, the website offers tardive dyskinesia information as well as a FREE case evaluation request form.

INTRODUCTION TO REGLAN

1. In spite of the fact that the FDA has approved Reglan only for short-term use, approximately one-third of patients are being prescribed the medication for 12 months or longer.

2. Although the labeling for Reglan and generic metoclopramide mentions tardive dyskinesia, the labeling suggests that it rarely occurs.

3. Notwithstanding this statement by these drug companies, two studies have determined the prevalence of tardive dyskinesia is between 27 percent and 29 percent in long-term users.

REGLAN SIDE EFFECTS

Reglan can have nervous system side effects, such as depression, anxiety, sedation, restlessness, and insomnia.

Parkinson patients can experience worsening of symptoms with Reglan. Reglan may impair the mental and/or physical abilities to drive or operate machinery. Rarely, Reglan can cause involuntary muscle movements, facial grimacing, and dystonic reactions resembling tetanus.

Since Reglan accelerates stomach emptying, it can increase absorption and effects of other medications. For example, the effects of sedatives such as alcohol and diazepam (Valium) can be accelerated when used together with Reglan.

Safety in pregnancy, nursing mothers, and children has not been established.

SERIOUS REGLAN SIDE EFFECTS

· an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);

· uncontrollable movements or spasms of your arms, legs, lips, jaw, tongue, face, or other body part;

· anxiety, agitation, jitteriness, difficulty breathing, or insomnia;

· depression;

· yellowing of the skin or eyes;

· changes in vision;

· an irregular heartbeat; or

· seizures or hallucinations.

LESS SERIOUS REGLAN SIDE EFFECTS

· nausea or diarrhea;

· dizziness, drowsiness, or headache;

· confusion;

· fluid retention (swelling of hands or legs, bloating);

· breast tenderness or swelling;

· changes in your menstrual cycle; or

· increased frequency of urination.

REGLAN LAWSUIT INFORMATION

Recently, there was a record setting jury verdict awarding $6.5 million in a Reglan/Tardive Dyskinesia case.

Again, if you or somebody you know has taken reglan and experienced any of the related side effects mentioned above, you will most likely be entitled to legal compensation. Please visit Reglan Claim Center to learn more and to request a FREE case evaluation.
