I'm not fimilar with that particular drug but I know that a lot of sleep agents contain antihistamines. They are bad for RLS patients. The antifistamines make the legs more restless

This is a drug to treat depression, yet more specifically, a mood stabilizer.
it is being used to treat many disorders on the side including insomnia, which most of us suffer from. it is not in the class of valium and others, and is supposidly non addictive. I believe it is a dopimine agonist. something to to with that uptake reuptake stuff of the stuff dealing with neotransmitters like ssris (prozoc and the likes)

Has anyone had the following problem with Seroquil? I have found out that after I go to sleep when taking Seroquil that someone can talk to me, ask me questions, I look and act totally awake but have absolutely NO memory of it at all!!!????

seroquel is an atypical antipsychotic and is given for several things other than psychosis...it can be given as a trnaquilizer...its given for mania in bipolar patients also. it is generally a bad drug for restless legs (as are all anti-psychotics) as it effects dopamine in the brain. i have taken small (25 mg) amonunts and not had a leg reaction but that is the exception... most often even with a small amount i will have an increase in symptoms...and its a drug i avoid if at all possible.

Hi! At last I've found you! I have been taking 400-500mg of Seroqual in 4-5 doses a day for approx 18 months. It is the only drug that has any effect in controlling my manic-depression in over 5 years of rapid-cycling, hospitals, drug mismanagment, suicide attempts etc. Finally I can have a reasonably normal life. Without it I would almost certainly be dead. I have tried reducing it but the depression and excitation are back in days. I also have severe, now very severe RLS and have been taking Pergolide 250mcg at night for years, very successfully. I now have to manipulate the dose of Pergolide so that I never have more than 200mg of Seroquil in my system without at least 125mcg of Pergolide as well. But I have had to increase the dose by half. Sometimes even this doesn't work. Risperodone, MAOI antidepressants, and another newer anti-depressant all seem to exacerbate the RLS too. Are the drugs that control the akethesias directly due to anti psychotic drugs, eg Cogentin, ever considered as well as or in spite of RLS drugs? Since my doctor knows only what I have told her about RLS she might benefit from some kind of info sheet from you. What do I do now? I am getting desperate. deeeo

This must be so hard - I'm not sure how to go about managing it except perhaps to consult with a doctor who might be a sleep specialist and can work with the doc prescribing the seroquel to come up with some way to manage the symptoms...I feel for you. I have seroquel around if I need it...but I dread needing it...
The other thing is - frankly - Im worried about the requip (and all drugs similar) causing hallucinations as they seem to work kind of opposite the seroquel - and it conserns me that what serquel takes away, they will induce.
