Biofeedback

Biofeedback may be used to dampen the overactivity of spastic muscles or to increase the strength of weakened muscles. Biofeedback involves the use of a machine to monitor muscle activity that is linked to a device that emits a sound or display when the spastic muscle relaxes or contracts. In this way, the person with spasticity may be able to train himself or herself to consciously reduce or increase muscle tone. There has been little research testing the effectiveness of biofeedback.
